Design Brief

Domino’s Pizza built a beautiful new workspace and wanted some work tables in the “Garage” meeting room.

The bar height was a requirement as the chairs had already been purchased. Desired design features were “easily moveable”, two tables that can be pushed together, visible welds, and local lumber.

The final design uses local barn wood from the 19th century to create a “branded” top. The branding mark is actually a shallow CNC routed logo that has been torched.

The base uses relatively narrow steel square tubing to keep the design from looking to heavy. The entire table was TIG welded to allow the joints to discolor from the heat, which adds to the overall industrial appeal. To keep the tables stiff, I designed a wishbone style strut that doesn’t interfere with any chairs and can double as a footrest. Plate steel was welded and tapped for casters to directly connect to the table base.
