Vanity with Pullout Step | American White Oak + Baltic Birch Ply | Winter 2019
This commissioned vanity is designed for a family with young children. It provides plenty of storage and also has a pull out step for the children to reach the sink. The internal structure of the vanity is somewhat complicated as the drawer sizes are optimized for space while allowing for the plumbing. The pull out step had to be figured correctly so that it would be flush and secure when not in use, but also level and stable when pulled out. I also provided a full width drawer for the bottom section that can replace the step when the children no longer need it.
The oak was brushed with a steel brush to allow the grain to absorb a lot of stain and to give some texture to a bathroom with a lot of smooth surfaces.
